Vinyl Mini Blinds

The Advantages of Vinyl Mini Blinds are Plentiful

By Mark J. Donovan

Need a little privacy in your bathroom or kitchen and looking for blinds or window treatments for the windows? Vinyl mini blinds are the answer. Vinyl blind window treatments are ideal for high humidity areas such as bathrooms, kitchens, and even in finished basements.

They’re also perfect for seacoast or lake front homes where high humidity is always an issue. Vinyl blinds also help to keep energy costs down in the summer time. They can help block ultraviolet like from entering the home. Light color vinyl mini blinds do a better job of reflecting sunlight and heat back outside the home.

Vinyl blinds are also very inexpensive. Lightweight mini blinds are the least expensive, however they are also the most fragile and delicate. Consequently their cords and mechanical hardware can easily break and the slats often have the tendency to sag over time. Room darkening blinds are typically higher quality than lightweight mini blinds, as they are constructed out of more rugged slats that are spaced closer together.

Cleaning vinyl blinds is also a breeze. You can simply use a damp cloth on them while they hang where they are to keep them free of dust. Alternatively you can place them over a clothes line outside and hose them down with a garden hose to rinse them off.

Besides being easy to keep clean and highly durable, vinyl mini blinds are available in a wide array of sizes and colors, prints and fabrics. They can also be found in faux finishes, such as wood. Wood faux finishes include oak, maple, pine, cherry, and walnut, just to name a few. The wood colors look so real it’s hard to tell the difference between the vinyl faux finish blinds and real wood blinds.

Vinyl mini blinds are also available in slat sizes that range from 1 to 3 inches. Due to their wide array of colors, prints, and fabric options, vinyl mini blinds are also excellent for decorating the interior of your home. Consequently make sure to select vinyl blind features that best match the flooring and wall colorings in your room or home.

The only slight downside of vinyl mini blinds is that they are a poor window treatment insulator. Duotone vinyl blinds, however, can provide some level of insulation value. Duotone vinyl blinds have a darker color on their back side and a lighter color on their street viewing side.
