How to Easily Clean Shower Doors

No Need for Expensive and Powerful Cleaners to Clean Shower Doors

By Mark J. Donovan

Are your shower doors looking filmy and dirty looking? If so clean them with a couple of products that are most likely sitting in one of your kitchen cabinets or pantry. Baking soda and white vinegar are all you need to get your shower doors clean and sparkling again. Yes there are a plethora of commercial cleansers that you can purchase to do the job, but why bother with the expense or hassle in purchasing them when baking soda and vinegar work just as well.

Pour a mixture of baking soda and water into a large mouth container, such as a 2 cup measuring cup. The mixture should be such that you form a thick paste of the baking soda and water.

Then apply the paste to the shower doors using either a soft non-abrasive sponge or your hand. Make sure to rub the paste thoroughly on all of the glass. Start by working from the top of the shower doors and working your way down to make sure you don’t miss any spots. Then simply rinse the shower doors with the vinegar to remove the baking soda paste. Finally rinse the shower doors down with water. You’ll be amazed how clean the shower doors look once you’ve completed rinsing them.

If your glass shower doors have tracks don’t forget to clean them as well. Often mold and soap scum can build up in the tracks making them look bad and not function well. To clean the tracks block the ends of the tracks with pieces of paper towel and simply pour some vinegar into them. Let the vinegar set overnight. In the morning remove the paper towel pieces and rinse the tracks out with water. Again, you’ll be shocked how well of a job the vinegar did in breaking down the soap scum and mold.

To keep your shower doors always looking clean and bright wipe them down with a squeegee after every shower. This will prevent soap scum from having a chance to harden up on the glass shower doors.

In addition, it will remove any residual water adhered to the glass shower doors. By removing the water you can eliminate the key ingredient for mold and mildew growth.

Lastly keep a 50/50 vinegar/water solution near the shower and every several days spray the glass shower doors down to keep them always sparkling.
