The question is not as silly sounding as one might think.<\/p>\n<p>First, you need to choose between using drywall nails or drywall screws. There are pros and cons for each. If you choose drywall screws then you also need to determine what length to use and whether or not to use fine thread or coarse thread drywall screws.<\/p>\n<p>In regards to drywall nails, drywall nails are ring shanked to help prevent the nails from pulling out of the wood.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p>Though drywall nails do a fairly decent job of holding sheetrock and only require a hammer for installation, I prefer using drywall screws, and in particular coarse thread drywall screws. Drywall nails have the tendency to work out of wall studs over time and cause \u201cdrywall nail pops\u201d and seams to appear in the finished walls.<\/p>\n<table style=\"width: 100%;\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"text-align: left;\" width=\"50%\">I prefer to use drywall screws for a number of reasons. First, using drywall screws speeds up the process of hanging sheetrock. Second, installing drywall screws with a screw gun is less tiring on the wrist, compared to swinging a hammer.
