It only took about 3 hours of work and around $30 in material to install the overhead shower light fixture.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">For material I used a recessed can light fixture that has adjustable brackets to allow it to easily be mounted to ceiling joists, and a shower overhead light fixture that mounts up into the recessed can.<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">In addition to the light fixture, I needed some 20-2 electrical wire and a few wire nuts.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><em><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Before installing the overhead waterproof shower light fixture I first turned power off at the main electrical circuit breaker panel to the electrical boxes I planned to work on. I also checked that the power was indeed off at the electrical boxes using a simple bulb tester.<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<table style=\"width: 100%;\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"text-align: left;\" width=\"50%\">\n<h3 style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #008000;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">How to Install Recessed Shower Light Fixture<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Locate\/Mark Center of the Shower<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">The first step in installing an overhead shower light is finding the center of the shower on the ceiling. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Next, I used a drill and small drill bit to create a pilot hole in the ceiling.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/td>\n<td style=\"text-align: left;\" width=\"1%\"><\/td>\n<td width=\"49%\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-7649 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/homeadditionplus.com\/dev\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/Overhead_Shower_Light-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"How to Install an Overhead Shower Light\" width=\"276\" height=\"207\" srcset=\"https:\/\/homeadditionplus.com\/dev\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/Overhead_Shower_Light-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/homeadditionplus.com\/dev\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/Overhead_Shower_Light.jpg 640w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 276px) 100vw, 276px\" \/><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Installing Recessed Shower Light Fixture Can in Attic<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">I then proceeded up to my attic with my recessed shower overhead can lighting fixture and found the drill bit hole.<\/span><\/p>\n<table style=\"width: 100%;\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"text-align: left;\" width=\"50%\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">I then centered the recessed can fixture over the pilot hole and traced around the circumference of the can fixture.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Next, I used a utility knife to cut out the drywall circle that I had just traced.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">After removing the section of drywall, I then dropped the overhead recessed can light fixture into the hole and fastened the brackets associated with it to the adjacent ceiling joists.<\/span><\/td>\n<td style=\"text-align: center;\" width=\"1%\"><\/td>\n<td style=\"text-align: center;\" width=\"49%\">\n<p align=\"center\"><script async src=\"\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js\"><\/script><br \/>\n<!-- New_300x250_051317 --><br \/>\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" style=\"display: inline-block; width: 300px; height: 250px;\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-3988490936633155\" data-ad-slot=\"4202793463\"><\/ins><br \/>\n<script>\n(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\n<\/script><\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">To provide power to the shower light, I ran a power cable from another light fixture that I had access to in the attic to a wall switch that controlled another light in the bathroom.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">In addition, I also ran another electrical cable from the new overhead recessed can shower light fixture down to the same electrical switch box.
