If you look carefully you will see a linkage assembly that is associated with the stopper handle and stopper.\u00a0<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Look closely where the horizontal pivot arm\/rod connects into the sink drain pipe. You should see the horizontal pivot arm rod connecting to a pivot nut that is attached to the sink drain pipe.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">It is the pivot nut, and more specifically the ball behind it, that is causing your problem with the sink stopper that won&#8217;t stay up and closed when you pull up on the handle.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">The pivot nut must be tight to create a sufficient enough amount of friction on the pivot ball\/rod assembly to hold the sink stopper closed when you pull up on the stopper handle.<\/span><\/p>\n<table style=\"width: 100%;\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"text-align: left;\" width=\"50%\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">As a matter of fact, it is this friction with the pivot nut and ball assembly that enables the sink stopper handle to hold any position, including closed, open, or something in between.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">So to resolve your problem with the bathroom sink stopper not staying closed when you pull up on the handle simply tighten the pivot nut.
