Though it may look charming, green moss growing on your roof is not a good situation. Moss can work its way into and under the asphalt roof shingles causing them to break down and lift up. As a result, your roof will eventually be compromised and begin to leak. And water damaged, as well as related mold problems, caused by a leaky roof can cost you a fortune in roof repairs.<\/p>\n<p>So though the green roof moss may seem innocuous, it is far from it. Consequently, it is important to remove roof moss as soon as you begin to see it forming on your roof.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p>To remove moss from a roof gather up a long handle brush, a garden hose with a spray nozzle on it, and a ladder. Also make sure to wear a pair of rubber soled shoes that will provide some grip when walking on wet asphalt roofing shingles. In addition, if the roof has a steep pitch to it, you may want to tie yourself to the roof with a thick rope.<\/p>\n<p>Start at the peak of the roof when removing roof moss. Wet down small areas and then use the scrub brush to loosen up the moss from the roof shingles. Then rinse the loosened moss off the roof with the garden hose and spray nozzle. Continue in this process until all of the moss has been removed from the roof.<\/p>\n<table style=\"width: 100%;\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"text-align: left;\" width=\"50%\">Do not use a power washer on your roof as this could cause as much damage, or more, to your roof as the growing roof moss.<\/p>\n<p>As an alternative to scrubbing the moss off your roof you can also use the commercial product \u201c<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/B001GTRBMO\/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=9325&amp;creativeASIN=B001GTRBMO&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;tag=wwwhomeadditi-20&amp;linkId=DVOJ4QWDNOH6T3QI\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Wet and Forget 800003 Wet And Forget Moss Mold Mildew &amp; Algae Stain Remover<\/a><\/strong><\/span>\u201d. I have used it in the past and it works quite well.
