For most homeowners this means very little. However it is important to understand this term as it will give you the ability to assess whether the quote is accurate or not.<\/p>\n<p>A square of shingles represents a 10\u2019 x 10\u2019 area (or 100 square feet) of roof surface area. Shingles are sold in bundles and a bundle can weigh between 70 and 140 lbs. Typically 3 bundles of shingles equal a square of shingles, however depending upon the weight of the particular shingles one square of shingles could equate to 4 or even 5 bundles.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p>If you plan to shingle your own roof and need to calculate the squares of shingles or number of shingle bundles required, simply measure the roof\u2019s square footage by multiplying the length x width.
