I\u2019ve also seen many more custom ceramic tiled showers. In some cases the shower corners were grouted and in other cases they were caulked.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Grout or Caulk Tile Corners?<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Over the years I\u2019ve come to the conclusion to grout the shower corners instead of caulking them. The old adage has been that grout the field and caulk the corners, or caulk where one plane meets another.<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">The rationale for this old adage comes from the fact that as the house settles and\/or if the shower walls and floor shift over time the caulk will flex and the seams remain intact. If on the other hand grout is used, the grout will crack and crumble.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">So Why use Grout vs Caulk in Shower Corners?<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">From personal experience, however, when the shower frame and <a href=\"http:\/\/homeadditionplus.com\/dev\/plumbing\/how-to-install-mortar-shower-pan-video\/\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff; text-decoration: underline;\">shower pan<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/a> are installed correctly there is very little movement of the planes (shower walls \/ floor). The grouted shower corners are guaranteed to look exactly the same as the field of grout.<\/span><\/p>\n<table style=\"width: 100%;\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"text-align: left;\" width=\"50%\">\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Also, it\u2019s one less step in the process of <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/homeadditionplus.com\/dev\/ebooks\/how-to-tile-custom-ceramic-tile-shower-ebook\/\"><strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff; text-decoration: underline;\">tiling a shower<\/span><\/strong><\/a><\/span>. I\u2019ve also found that there is a lot less mold issues to contend with when using grout, and a grout sealer.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Finally, there is no concern for peeling caulk, an issue that often plagues a <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/homeadditionplus.com\/dev\/bathrooms\/building-shower-stall\/\"><strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff; text-decoration: underline;\">ceramic tiled shower<\/span><\/strong><\/a><\/span> with caulked corners.
