Ideally the subfloor should consist of \u00be\u201d tongue and groove plywood that is then covered with a layer of \u00bd\u201d CDX exterior grade plywood. The \u00be\u201d tongue and groove subfloor should be screwed and glued to the floor joists and the 1\/2\u201d CDX exterior plywood should be screwed down to the tongue and grooved subfloor with 1-1\/4\u201d deck screws on 6\u201d centers.<\/p>\n<p>When installing ceramic tile use a high quality latex modified thin set mortar for best results. In addition, use a grout sealer after grouting the ceramic tile to reduce the risk of grout stains.<\/p>\n<p>When installing a ceramic tile entrance way, consider buying or renting a tile wet saw. A tile wet saw will save you both time and money on wasted ceramic tiles. In addition, you will achieve a much more professional finish. Ceramic tile wet saws are not too expensive, so if you are planning multiple ceramic tile projects you may seriously want to take a look at buying one. I have owned one for the past 10 years and have used it many times. I know I have personally saved a small fortune in rental costs and improperly cut ceramic tiles.
