Not only has it end up serving its intended purpose, it has also been a boon for doubling as a quasi kitchen. With our home theater located in the adjacent recreation room it has become an ideal place for popping the popcorn, getting the cold drinks and for doing the dishes, versus bringing them upstairs into the main kitchen.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Designing Basement Wet Bar<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Initially I had planned on using a home improvement store for outfitting and installing the cabinetry and bar. In the end, I wound up using them only for fabricating the cabinets along the back wall of the wet bar.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p>Due to the fact that I could not get exactly what I was looking for, in terms of the bar itself, I chose to design and build my own custom bar.\u00a0The actual design of the bar basically consisted of a sketch with some dimensions.<br \/>\n<script async src=\"\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js\"><\/script><br \/>\n<!-- 468x60_below_Author_Name --><br \/>\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\"\n     style=\"display:inline-block;width:468px;height:60px\"\n     data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-3988490936633155\"\n     data-ad-slot=\"5936342260\"><\/ins><br \/>\n<script>\n(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\n<\/script><\/p>\n<table style=\"width: 100%;\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"text-align: left;\" width=\"50%\"><strong>Building Basement Wet Bar<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In regards to the construction of the wet bar, I framed the bar out of 2x4s, using pressure treated lumber on the base. I secured the framed bar assembly to the basement floor using concrete nails and liquid nails. I also secured one side of the bar to an exterior basement wall. As part of the framing of the bar, I included a recessed cabinet in the bar for holding bottles.<\/p>\n<p>I then sheathed the sides of the bar with \u00bd\u201d thick finished oak plywood.<\/p>\n<p>Next,\u00a0added 1\u201d x 4\u201d poplar trim pieces all around the edges of the bar, and in the middle of it to create a boxed in look.<\/td>\n<td width=\"3%\"><\/td>\n<td width=\"47%\">\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/homeadditionplus.com\/dev\/home_addition_bid_sheets\/basement-remodeling-bid-sheet\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-2150 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/homeadditionplus.com\/dev\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/Basement_Remodeling_Bid_Sheet_Cover_Page-1-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"Basement Remodeling Bid Sheet\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/homeadditionplus.com\/dev\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/Basement_Remodeling_Bid_Sheet_Cover_Page-1-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/homeadditionplus.com\/dev\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/Basement_Remodeling_Bid_Sheet_Cover_Page-1-768x1024.jpg 768w, https:\/\/homeadditionplus.com\/dev\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/Basement_Remodeling_Bid_Sheet_Cover_Page-1.jpg 1536w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/><\/a><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p>I then\u00a0used a router to chamfer the edges of the poplar trim pieces to give it a dressed up look.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, I sanded the surfaces and added a couple of coats of paint.<\/p>\n<p>Regarding the cabinetry along the back wall, I installed these just as you would install kitchen cabinetry. I first installed the upper cabinets, and then the floor cabinets.<\/p>\n<table style=\"width: 100%;\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"text-align: left;\" width=\"50%\"><strong>Wet Bar Countertops<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>For the bar countertop surfaces I elected to use Silestone. Silestone is an engineered quartz material that is dazzling to look at. It really gave the wet bar a finished look.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Wet Bar Sinks<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I included a standard deep bar sink with a tall neck faucet.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Bar Refrigerator<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I also integrated a small refrigerator into the lower cabinet area. This enables guests to sit at the bar and watch a movie while never having to leave the bar.<\/p>\n<p>Our basement wet bar may not be as high end as some may like, however it definitely looks great, and meets our intended needs, both as a basement wet bar and as a small kitchen work space.
