Building custom shower walls is fairly easy. You could do it in a few hours of work. The bottom plate looks so rotted and flimsy that I would be concerned about the rigidity of the shower pan. See my article on <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/homeadditionplus.com\/dev\/framing\/framing-shower-walls-for-shower-pan\/\"><strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff; text-decoration: underline;\">framing shower walls for a custom shower<\/span><\/strong><\/a><\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n<table style=\"width: 100%;\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"text-align: left;\" width=\"50%\">\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">In regards to your question on how to tie in the shower walls near the bathroom ceiling; As you can see in the nearby picture, there is a top plate using 2x4s that is nailed\/screwed to the bathroom ceiling. I would recommend using screws for fastening this frame work (top plates) so that you don\u2019t crack drywall in adjacent rooms or in the ceiling.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><script async src=\"\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js\"><\/script><br \/>\n<!-- 468x60_below_Author_Name --><br \/>\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" style=\"display: inline-block; width: 468px; height: 60px;\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-3988490936633155\" data-ad-slot=\"5936342260\"><\/ins><br \/>\n<script>\n(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\n<\/script><\/p>\n<table style=\"width: 100%;\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"text-align: left;\" width=\"50%\">\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Once you have the top and bottom plates framed\/fastened in place, you can then cut vertical wall studs and fasten them in place to the top and bottom plates. Notice the blocking (2x4s) on the far left for the eventual shower doors in the nearby picture on this page<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>One final tip.<\/strong> Toe nail\/screw the vertical studs in place on their flat sides, and make sure that if you toe nail\/screw from the front outer edges for any reason, that they are flush with the wood.
