A moderately skilled diy homeowner, with the help of a second pair of hands, can easily install an aluminum fence. In order to determine how much aluminum fence you need to purchase, go out and stake out the location of the fence. Drive stakes into the grounds at the corners of the planned fenced-in area and attach a tight string between the stakes.<\/p>\n<p>This way you can get a clear idea of the fence location and more easily determine how much aluminum fence material you need to purchase. It will also help you identify where the corner fence posts and gate posts will need to be placed.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p><strong>Installing Fence Posts<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Assuming you plan to install 2 inch diameter fence posts, dig the holes 2 feet deep and 6 inches in diameter. Then for each fence post place it into the hole. Make sure that the fence post is perfectly plumb. You can do this by attaching two long boards (e.g. 1\u201dx3\u201dx8\u2019) with duct tape to the top of the post. The long boards should be attached so that they are perpendicular to one another. Then pound a stake in the ground next to each board. Finally adjust the position of each long board to its respective stake so that the fence post is perfectly plumb. When the post is plumb, nail or duct tape each long board to its respective stake. Then fill the hole with concrete to approximately 4 inches from the top of the hole. When the concrete has cured you can fill the rest of the hole with soil. Install all the corner and gate posts in exactly this same process.<\/p>\n<table style=\"width: 100%;\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"text-align: left;\" width=\"50%\"><strong>Installing Aluminum Fence Sections<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Start at a corner fence post and dig a few post holes along the fence line. The post holes should be spaced approximately 6 feet apart, or whatever the run-length of the fence section is.<br \/>\nNext slide a fence section into the corner post and then slide a line post on the opposite end of the fence section. Square\/plumb up the line post as done with the corner posts and pour concrete into the line post hole. Fasten the aluminum fence section with self tapping screws. However, it is recommended that you wait approximately a week before installing the gate.
