Installed New Valance Curtains in Family Room as Part of a Home Décor Project

Recently my wife and I decided to go through a mini home décor remodeling effort in our family room. In particular we replaced all of the old curtains in the family room with new and more richly looking swag valance curtains.
We purchased the curtains from J.C. Penney. Actually there are two valance curtains per window. The first layer of valance curtains sit recessed in between the window frames using a compression curtain rod. They are antique white in color and are somewhat sheer. |
The outer layer ornamental valance curtains are mounted on bronze curtain rods that are attached to the outer edges of the interior window trim.
As you can see in the picture below, the ornamental valance curtains are hung in a swag manner across the length of the curtain rod and extend about halfway down the length of the window. The new curtains allow more light to filter into the family room while also giving the room some additional color.
| In addition, the red and green colors associated with the fabric print on the ornamental valance curtains work wonderfully with the room’s red oak flooring.
