The Home Depot’s EGO Power+ Mower Review Video

Finally a Fume-Free and Quiet Lawnmower with the Power and Performance that Out-Bests it’s Gasoline Powered Peers.

The Home Depot recently introduced a family of cordless and rechargeable EGO Power+ outdoor lawn and yard tools, including the EGO Power+ Mower that I had the chance to test out and put through its paces. Like all of the products in the EGO platform of tools, the Power+ Mower is powered by the first ever 56-Volt Lithium-Ion battery technology. This battery technology provides 40 percent more power than the leading 40-Volt battery technology, and produces the industry’s fastest charge time. In just 30 minutes it charges the EGO Power+ Mower battery from zero to full charge. A full charge on the Power+ Mower provides up to 45 minutes of cut time. On average, the EGO 56-Volt Lithium-Ion batteries are also 50 percent lighter and last four times longer than competitive battery technologies.

What was amazing to me while mowing my lawn with the Power+ Mower was its strong cutting power. The Home Depot claims the Power+ Mower matches or surpasses the performance of premium gas powered lawn mowers, and I have to agree. I was able to cut through thick grass like butter without the Power+ Mower bogging down in cutting power. It was also nice for once to not have to stand behind a lawn mower inhaling gas engine exhaust fumes. I also found the setup and use of the Power+ Mower a breeze. In particular I liked how the handle assembly could be adjusted in angle, and effectively height, behind the lawn mower.

Standing 6’ 4” tall I often have trouble with the handle heights on lawn mowers, but not with the EGO Power+ Mower. I was able to easily adjust the handle to an appropriate angle and height for me by simply opening the quick release handle locking clamps, raising the telescopic handle to its full extent, and then locking the clamps back down.

The Power+ Mower has a 20 inch cutting width and is ideal for both small and medium size yards, or quite frankly any lawn that normally takes you 45 minutes or less to mow. And even for larger lawns it works well. After 45 minutes of mowing, turn it off and plug the battery into its recharging pack while you get a cold drink. In just 15 minutes the recharging pack can recharge the battery to a 50 percent charge level, which should be sufficient enough to mow even large lawns. In addition, with LED headlights you can also mow your lawn anytime with the Power+ Mower.

The Power+ Mower can easily be configured to mulch or side discharge grass clippings with the simple installation or removal of one it its two inserts that come with it. A bag attachment also comes with the mower for rear bagging of grass clippings if desired.

Starting the Power+ Mower is also a breeze. Unlike gas powered lawn mowers, there is no pull string to have to yank on multiple times. With a squeeze of a handle and push of a button the Power+ Mower starts up. And amazingly, it’s incredibly quiet compared to its gas powered competitors.

The EGO Power+ Mower is also extremely light and durable and can fold flat in just a few seconds. Consequently it is easy to clean and store in small spaces. It’s so light you can even hang it on a wall to store away.

The EGO Power+ Mower retails for $499 and can be found, along with the entire EGO Platform of outdoor tools, at The Home Depot nearest you. It comes with a five year warranty on the mower itself and a three year warranty on the battery.

So if you are in the market for a new lawn mower I highly recommend stopping by your local Home Depot store and taking a close look at the EGO Power+ Mower. It is a great alternative to the traditional gas powered lawn mower with its fume-free, incredible power, ease of use, and low decibel operation.
