Bathtub Liners are an Ideal Solution for Renovating old and Damaged Bathtubs

When remodeling a bathroom take a close look at the bathtub. If it is chipped, stained, gouged or damaged in any way you may want to consider installing a bathtub liner / bathtub insert. Bathtub liners are designed to fit perfectly over your existing bathtub and typically require no modification or repairs to the existing bathtub plumbing. Bathtub liners are very durable and are designed to last for many years. They are also very easy to keep clean and are available in a variety of colors and styles.

Typically a bathtub liner can be installed by one person in one day, and can be used the next day. Usually all that is required for a bathtub liner installation is a few hardware pieces and some silicone caulk.
| Bathtub liners are typically made out of durable plastic, PVC or acrylic materials, and have a shiny gelcoat finish. Most bathtub liners come with a non-slip surface that is comfortable to stand on. Warranties for bathtub inserts are typically 1 to 3 years in length.
Though inexpensive compared to replacing an existing bathtub, bathtub inserts are pricier than other bathtub restoration solutions. This said, bathtub restoration solutions typically are not as durable as a bathtub liner solution. Also, in rare cases, if the bathtub liner is installed improperly water can sometimes get caught between the bathtub liner and the original bathtub and cause mold and mildew growth. |

In addition, if the bathtub liner is not installed properly it can flex when standing in it. By ensuring the bathtub liner is installed correctly these types of situations can usually be prevented.
So if your bathtub is looking a little long in the tooth take a look at all your bathtub replacement and restoration options and do what’s best for your needs and budget. A bathtub insert is a very viable option and has both pros and cons so consider them all before making your decision.
